A Moscow court on Monday convicted an opposition activist of being a member of the banned National Bolshevik Party, a ruling the radical youth group said could spark a wave of similar convictions.
The Arbat District Magistrates Court convicted Murmansk resident Andrei Nikitin, 20, of participating in a group banned for extremist activities and handed him a one-year suspended sentence with two years probation, Moscow City Court spokeswoman Anna Usachyova said.
Police raided the apartment of an activist with the banned National Bolshevik Party on Thursday and confiscated a computer and several books by opposition leader Eduard Limonov, a spokesman for the opposition coalition The Other Russia said.
Police entered the apartment of activist Maxim Gasovich in southern Moscow at around 9 a.m. in search of fellow opposition activist Darya Isayeva, who is being investigated on suspicion of extremism for a stunt in a Yolki-Palki restaurant last month, spokesman Alexander Averin said. (more…)
A group of men in civilian clothing accompanied by police broke into the headquarters of the National Bolshevik Party on Thursday and demanded that party members evacuate the premises, a NBP spokesman said. It was the second attempt in two days to evict the party.
Three carloads of men in plainclothes, accompanied by police, arrived at the NBP basement headquarters on Kashirskoye Shosse at around 1:30 p.m. and broke through the metal door before ordering party members to leave, NBP spokesman Alexander Averin said by telephone Thursday evening. (more…)

Late Monday night, an attack was made on radical leftist youth in Moscow. They were shot with stun guns and beaten with baseball bats. Four members of the National Bolshevik Party were hospitalized. The victims are blaming the pro-presidential Nashi (Ours) group for the attack, although that group denies any involvement. At the police station where the attackers were taken, all information about them has been declared secret and the attackers themselves released. Kommersant has been able to obtain a list of the arrestees, however. It can be gathered from an examination of that list that the attackers were part of an organized group of fans of the Spartak team that has been suspected of having ties with Nashi.
I thought about some nice, lyrical subject for that my column at “eXile”, but then Mark Ames asked me to write about last adventures of my gorgeous party because first thing what Mark heard on the news coming from US to Russia, were the news about militia platoons, storming general headquarters of NBP. So, I will report on some events, the only principal ones.
